This is the bow that I made at this years Classic for the self bow challenge. Some of you might remember it held a slight reflex that I cooked in, but the bow was 66" and I was only pulling 26".
I got home, cut 6" off and steamed in the curves. I worked it back to 26" at 50#, and most the deflex returned to the stave. Still not as bad if i didn't heat treat it, I think.
I wanted to give my guy a bow that had a classic PNW vibe to it, in my eyes anyways. I will admit its slightly over built for a design I'd usually make narrower, but I wanted the bow to last him as long as he does, and with the cold and dry winters where she's going, I figured the trade off was worth it in the long run.
Tips are bighorn sheep from Chuck, I think I have enough overlay horn to last me my lifetime haha.
Strunk style handle, with elk hide from Bryce, and a fast flight string.
I hope my guy loves her as much as I do. Its a hard one to let go, has a little more sentimental value to me than other bows, but I know my dude will treat her well. you better!!!!
Cheers guys, thanks for looking- Goat
