red oak sapwood?

hey guys i have three well seasoned red oak staves with the bark and sapwood still on, what should i do with the sapwood ???
i haven't used red oak sense my first failed attempt at a board bow lol.

I chased down and got rid of it in the 3 red oak stave bows I did. They turned out nice.

Generally red oak is treated as a whitewood and the wood under the bark is the back.

Sounds like you could go either way.  Maybe try both and do some comparison?

The heartwood seems more brittle to me I'd bark it and go from there
failure is an option, everyone fails, it's how you handle it that matters.

for no reason backed by good evidence I avoid sapwood in red oak.
It just seems a lot weaker than the heartwood.

thanks for the advice guys ;D i'll make one with sap and one without see hoiw they turn out. might have a kinda fake yew look to it by the untrained eye >:D :o :laugh:
