Belly lams on stave

So I got this bow awhile back and it had a small crack in the belly, and I have grinder the belly down and am planning on adding a belly lam going from tip up the fade. My question, the bow is Osage and the belly lam is yew. The bow has slight wiggle in the limbs. Do I still need to follow the exact grain or do u think ill be ok if I go a little more straight with the profile

Kinda impatient ain't ya you only posted half an hour apart, as long as the belly lam has decent grain you are ok just glue it up and follow the shape of the original bow

Would depend on how wide the limbs are.  If they are wide enough to take out some of the wiggle and still have enough width then go for it

P.S. You would have to deal with some grain violation on the back but you can get around that

I was only kidding, once I got thinking it'd probly be better for the backs integrity to follow the grain, the yew grain is nice and straight, not one knot! Lol

We are talking belly right? ... it's just that "Back" was creeping into the last post.
IMO you can straighten the bow a tad as grain violations on the belly aren't vital... after all... we tiller by removing wood from the belly and even Osage bellies end up with rings showing.
The Yew is no where near as fussy as Osage so just lay it out straight.
