I got an e-mail from someone with the above subject line.  Here is his e-mail

Hi, I just got this thought of a futuristic bow, am just sharing the thought don't care what you do whit it ;)
 
You built a small very strong electric motor inside the handle, that will have the function of pulling the string, the way it should work is that when you pull the string back witch you can only apply 10 pound and get ready to shoot, when you are in that stable position, using the hand on the handle whit the help of a thumb button, you press it and make the string tighter and tighter, till you are very close to have to let go, then un press the thumb  button and let the arrow go

That way you can maximize the pound on the string since you don't have to pull it first,  but only have to  hold it and it can be done very fast whit double the force ‎behind the arrow

Wow!  First I would verify that the e-mail in question was not dated April first and for some reason just now hit your inbox.  If that should prove to not be the case, I would then politely remind the sender to just say "no". Lol!  Josh

I'm inclined to think he has been smoking a bit too much of the wacky tobaky

He could line the limbs with high efficiency solar cells  ;D

REALLY LOL; you can't "pull" the string from the handle with a motor. Bionic arm.

Hhmmmmm, let's see.  The string could run down through the inside of the limb and be attached to the motor that winds the string to bend the limbs.  Yep, good idea to cover the back of the bow with solar cells to recharge the storage batteries for the motor.  Good collaborative brainstorming.  But, what I haven't figured out is the demographics of the market that you would sell to.  Could be an interesting challenge.  Go for it Marc.

Was he a bowyer?

I've gotten some real off the wall ideas from folks who've never made anything :)

One guy wanted me to make a double recurve and run the string through a hole in the limb about 3/4 of the way to the tips. I havent tried it yet.

Just use a gun or crossbow, their idea was over thought.  There are much simpler and more efficient ways of launching a projectile.

I think you are going to need some pulleys and a pretty large battery pack.
I'm a primitive style bowyer so I'd pass on it. :)
