Chuck, do you weigh your dry sinew before applying or do you have some sort of formula you use?

I always weigh sinew on hornbows to have exactly the same on both limbs. Those bows are 50% sinew and the bend will not match if the amount of sinew is not the same. I think I did weigh sinew on this one. for bows that are less than 1/4 sinew I just eye it out.

Very beautiful bow, Chuck! Your sinew job is steller! You said that was a 3ply sinew string. Could you please explain your string process some. I have plenty of sinew on hand and a nice little sinew bow in progress that I wouldn't mind trying that on. Patrick

You have gone to great lengths to make a bow like this true to form. I am really impressed.

Thank you all. Patrick, I think for me 3 ply sinew strings are the easiest and strong enough for 1000-2000 shots, yet narrow enough for a fast arrow. I use backstrap. not pounded, just teased apart and brushed to a fine silk sized thread. I start out with a thicker bunch(1/3) size of string, then add a few threads whenever it starts to narrow a little. Do a pretty tight twist a little longer than 3x the finished string. Then fold it in 3. It will start to reverse twist it self. I twist it tight then hang it with a weight braced so it does not untwist.
