A friend gave me this log, it is supposed to be mulberry, I've never seen mulberry this white or with rings this thick. I have heard of white mulberry, but haven't ever seen any, the bark seems to match what info I can find, also I am in Florida.

All the mulberry I have cut has light colored sapwood with much darker heartwood.  But there can be a lot of variation in species.  Ours around here is Morus rubra.  (red mulberry)

That's the same mulberry I have here in Florida too. It's definitely mulberry. Makes a good bow

I'd say its mulberry also but I don't know which specie.

Leaf pic looks right for mulberry. Never seen mulberry wood that color. mulberry is common as flies here in Oklahoma but the wood is 2 tone with yellowish white sapwood and yellowish orange heartwood. I'd bet on it being mulberry though.

Sure isn't a very old tree.  I counted 10 years old.  This AZ boy is still amazed at how fast trees when there is water haha.

The friend that gave me this is doing development clearing in the Villages, in Fl.Wet lands that are being cleared, There is Southern Hackberry, and Crepemytrle that approach the size of this  mullberry there. He is going to try to save some of that also.

I had a paper mulberry in my yard in Savannah that was at least 36" in diameter.

Paper mulberry is a very invasive tree, it grows big and quick but its wood is light, soft and brittle. Ok for paper making but no good for bowyery  :-\ . You can try to make a bow but I think it won't work.

I've never used paper mulberry before, but after doing a search on wood properties it seems to be similar to white ash in a lot of categories.
