polka dot agate point
« on: May 18, 2015, 12:58:33 pm »
Preeeeetty sure the chunk I made this from was never heated, but I don't know I bought it as a thick slab at Flint Ridge last year. Man o man it was HARD to chip. Screwed up the notching pretty bad but oh well. As hard as the stone is I'm just glad they got as far in as they did. Never gone to punch a flake out, didn't have the punch slip, hit the heck out of it and have nothing happen. Very unsettling.

Those notches look good to me.
I can usually get a little more by trying to get a
complimentry flake up from the base.
I guessing thats heated as it has a luster
and raw is near impossible.

Me like, you did a fine job on that one!

Thanks guys.

Zuma: there are sooooome agates that work raw. I don't really know anything about polka dot tho. If anything it was underheated, the pictures are deceiving, it has very little sheen to it.
