Snake handlers finishing techniques
« on: May 12, 2015, 11:51:06 am »
I have a 45 inch osage orange sinew backed bow with a western diamond-backed rattler and have questions concerning how to finish the skin which put on with hide glue about 5 days ago and have sanded the skin with steel wool.
I live in a dry climate.
Suggestions please

I like tru-oil on skins. Danish oil is good also.

I've always used Tru-Oil, 5 or 6 coats with a 0000 steel wool buffing between coats. Tru-Oil dries with a glossy finish so I do a quick spray satin poly over it to cut the shine.
