She looks good. Tell me about working dogwood(Cornus florida I presume). I have a nice straight 5" pole I cut a few months ago and split a month after I cut it.  Pat

Cool looking bow the dogleg in the bottom limb makes it tough to judge the tiller
but looks like it could bend a bit more between the fadeaand the dog leg. Still well done.

Looks nice....are you planning on taking some of the Bend out with some Heat?? Or are you going to leave it for Character?? I am with Dana here....looks a Little stiff from Mid Limb to the Tip on that bottom limb........but I would rather have that than a Whippy Bow....so go slow....

here is one a Guy sent Me to finissh for Him.....do you think the Tiller is a little off....LMAO!!!

Looks like you did a pretty good job trying to work with that kink- that limb should bend a little more probably, but it's hard to judge tiller when you've got a hellacious whoopiedoo like that to work around. The littl'un looks good. I've got a piece of dogwood that Pat gave me drying in the shed, I'm looking forward to attacking it.
Yankee, I think you could probably get that bow bending just a tiny bit more out of the fades-maybe a few scrapes between fade and midlimb?  ;D  ;D  :o  ;D

Yep, good looking bow. I made an Osage bow like that, it had a straight top limb, but the bottom limb had a dog leg in about the same area.  :)

Shows what I know, for some reason when I think of dogwood I think soft wood, you bow looks super, the dip in the limb is well incorporated in the design, seems like you continue an arc even with the offset.

VB, our dogwood (C. florida) is an extremly hard, dense wood, and very impact-resistant.

Great to find out that dogwood makes good bows, I have been wondering for some time if it would, and have been collecting sapling size stave's to season with a hope of making an English longbow. I not sure how to dry this particular timber, so I have some in my workshop, for a slow dry and some in the house, all with the bark on.
I read in the bb1 that it is denser than osage?
