I love this bow! I've been thinking about mesquite as a bow wood for a bit, but those spines, and my clumsiness have turned me off.  looks like it worked out great!

Thanks everyone. Yes the bow has both sap and heartwood. I'm not sure what kind of mesquite it is. Dell, I shoot a lot of shortbows and have learned not to punch myself in the face  ;)

Chuck, if Cippy cut it close to home its more than likely honey mesquite.  I used to cut mine not far from there.  Josh

Thanks. Brokenarrow, This bow is a bit thicker than the one I copied. We would have to look closer at all Apache bows. Most I have seen look to be 40-50# IMHO
