Osage vintage hunter 66/28 (No. 62)
« on: April 10, 2015, 04:05:08 am »
Well, made me a birthday bow!
After ring chasing I put the stave in the fuming pipe for one day and got a nice caramel color. The further working brought the yeller color on sides and belly. This way the finished bow turned out in a two tone appearance. A pleasure in my eyes and I will do that again for sure.
The bow is only 57”, but allows a full draw of 28”. Side profile is a kinda gull wing shape with long fades. Max width of limbs is 1½”. Reflex is only 1½”.
This bow is one of my top 10, speed is in average 185 fps with 10gpp.
Overlays and arrow plate is bone, handle is goat leather.

Happy birthday and awesome work my friend. That bow is a beauty  I really like the white overlays in contrast with the darker back. Sweet job and that speed is no joke as well.

That is the type of bow that could be the "poster-child" model for our craft, I'd say.  Happy B-day, Simson.

I really like the looks of the long fades.  These dimensions/draw weight is more or less what I am gravitating towards.  That thing is very beautiful and looks to be very fast.  I love it, great job.  The ideal overall osage bow design, in my opinion.

Love the two-tone color.  Can you describe the "fuming pipe"?  Or is that a secret....
