KY hard winter on River Cane

Wow....the -24 deg. Kentucky February was really hard on the river cane,  all that I have seen driving around is brown.  I was out at my camp last week and noticed it for the first time.  after a little research I found out the river cane's lower range is -10 deg.  Going out this weekend and take a closer look at the cane and cut as much as possible.  I sure hope it comes back,  looks like I'm going to be short on cane for a couple of years.
Has anyone else notice this or can comment on if it will come back?

I don't know anything about eastern species, but universally all plants must reach certain temperature requirements to develop their annual cold tolerance.  I forget exactly the triggers, I believe the first is frost, and then there is a second phase that puts it into a cold tolerant phase.  The same for the spring, but in reverse.  So I don't know what the weather has been like her, but its been warm all winter so the plants are coming out of dormancy.  If we get hit with frost now, they're going to lose a lot of new tissue.

Hope it grows back quickly for you Bill.  I noticed the patch closest to me was looking kind of brown.

Severe drought took out most of the cane I harvest a few years ago, but it is coming back strong now and should have a lot of good mature cane soon.
I know that the freeze may be different but I thought it would not come back when so much of it died here so hopefully yours will come back too.

Pretty normal for bamboo to still grow every year even if it gets killed in the winter. It just won't  reach maturity unless it gets mild enough winters consecutively.

It sure is Clint,  I got some Eddie had at the Classic last year!!  made great arrows, the ones I made Greg was from that bunch.  Hope he brings some this year.

Somebody gave me some peacock wing feathers when you guys were at my house.  I could have swore it was you Bill.  Oh well, they look cool and were easier to work than turkey wing feathers.
