shorty osage tiller check
« on: March 31, 2015, 08:50:14 pm »
I dont usually make shorty bows, but I made an exception! This is gonna be my fishing bow on a canoe trip later this month. This is a tiller check after about the first 200 arrows. I'm thinking the bottom limb is bending a little too much but I don't know if it's bad enough that I want to scrape my finish off, what do you guys think?

Also I tried stain on osage for the first time on this, I liked how it turned out on the rattle snake skins, hated it on the osage.. I usually sand finely and use Tru oil.

Short bow but your massively underdrawing that arrow!

Just kiddin its actually April 1 where I am at the moment.
Bow looks good. As for the lower limb bending too much, how is the set compared with the upper limb? That will let you know if the limb is doing too much work. If you have different length limbs a shorter lower limb will also bend in a tighter curve.

Looks good to me. The limbs seem to be bending evenly.  Very nice. Jawge

If it shoots well, and you like the weight, don't mess with it.  Looks good!

Maybe a shade but as mentioned above watch the set. It will tell you everything you need to know.

Can't comment on the tiller but that is one sweet looking shortie!  :)

Is your nock point to high? You could also turn the bow upside down and take another picture. To me pictures always look like the bottom limb is bending too much.

I do see what you mean, but it's near as dammit perfect.
I diagnose tiller fatigue ;) and prescribe some good bow fishing....
