5th file knife

hey fellas this is my 5th knife from a file. it's made from an old Nicholson file. amazing what you can do with fake 4 by 36 belt sander and a lot of time. the blade was etched black with boiling vinegar and has a Scandi grind. Let me know what you think. [/URL]

I made it in trade with a buddy he gave me three antler sheds, so I made him a Knife for his father.

[/quote]it's my understanding and I might be wrong but, the vinegar causes the steel to oxidized with a dark Grey color, which prevents the blade from rusting where it's coated.  After the vinegar bath I tempered the blade hoping it would make the oxidation more durable. It didn't work as well as I would have liked. But it looks real cool!!! And if you are doing the differential quenching it will bring out tHe Hammon similar to samurai sword

Here's a fillet knife from a saw all blade.  Knocked off the teeth, put an age on the back and added antler tine handle
