Presentation and my very first bow
« on: March 11, 2015, 04:52:32 pm »
Hi all of you,
I've finished my first bow recently but I've followed this forum for some time now. So I thought I would present myself and my work.
First of all, my name is Thomas and i'm 18 years-old. I live in Québec, Canada (that's why you must be indulgent with my English eheh)
And now the piece of resistance:
This is an asymetrical longbow with a stiff handle with a total length of 72" and 70"ntn. It is from white Ash and pulls 45# at 31". There's is still no finish on it (I thought of linen oil) and it is dyed.

That's a fine first or fifteenth bow.

Welcome to PA! Very nice first bow! Tiller looks pretty good like Osage said. The only thing I might change is the extra weight on the tips. Anything past the string grooves is just extra weight. Otherwise it's a great first bow! How does it shoot!?  Look forward to more of your work. Patrick

Thomas, thats a great start! Nothing like hitting the ground running, eh? ;D

Linseed oil is a very natural penetrating oil and I've used it a time or two. Won't build up like the urethane options and if you add a layer of bees wax later you shouldn't have any trouble with moisture.

Tres bien!  (I'm American, pardon my poor Quebecois!  >:D)

Keep it up, you are doing great work, brother!
