Tailgate points
« on: March 08, 2015, 04:56:15 pm »
This job I'm on is making an Old Man out of me quick, but I did find the time last Saturday when all of the Safety Inspectors were gone to work on some 2015 Bullets.

Dang, Tex! :D, good to see you're still around. I've been on this job for 4 months, 70-80 hour weeks, and just heard it might drag on for another 6 months. You know it's bad when I'm begging to go to Saudi.

Thanks, Tracy. The thick one in the middle I made to head shoot a hog. I've done it twice now, and they fall down quick.

Glad to see you've found some time to do something fun.
The points look good.  I'll be off next week, we are going camping up at the Suwanee and I might check out the O'Leno park, also.

Steve, if you go into White Springs there is a boat load of cane growing there.

And for everybody looking; here's a tip from Brian Melton, The background that looks like wood is actually a big, long piece of tile from Home Depot. It is in the section called Porcelain Tile. And what he told me is true, it chips and pressure flakes like Dacite or Obsidian.

The one in the picture is about 12"x 6" and cost $1.99. I'm waiting to put it on one of my saws but did hit on it some.

Hey...get back to work! ;D Those are some great points!! Tile is pretty cool....look at different pieces, some are grainier than others...but find the right stuff, buy a stack! Great for guys wanting to learn. Stuff from Italy is pretty good, should say on the back of the tile. :D

There  was  vendor at Flintridge that sold porcelain preforms.  I think he also picked some of the nicer points from the better Knappers and made porcelain casts of them.
