I have a straight flat longbow with rigid handle almost done. Looks like Norway maple is a pretty good bow wood. This piece, however, is very resistant to heat bending. Good hard, tough wood though.

Dave, I thought Norway maple was soft maple? I know the silver maple is the soft maple, I make bows from it but they are like paddle bows, going to have to try and find some norway maple, I hear that is good for arrows as well. Steve

I think Norway maple is kinda of a medium hard maple, like red maple.

I would say its a little lighter than sugar maple but heavier than red.
