Help please, log to bow

Once again is split, where do you start?  How do you go about getting the shape of the bow,  taking off large amounts of wood,  and deciding if it needs a baking or not.

  What kind of wood is it? This is how I do white woods.   I take a long look at this point and decide where the bow lies andf what the stave will give me.  Then I basically rough out the bow to within 1/8"-1/4" of final shape in every direction; thickness, width, profile, etc.  Leave yourself enough to play with, and then I seal the handle and tips, and maybe the back and belly if it is really hot or dry, and clamp it down straight to dry.
