Simple Hickory D Bow
« on: February 18, 2015, 08:32:02 am »
Designed this bow off of one I made several years ago that I thought I could improve upon. I made it from a larger bow that I stopped working on because it took too much set early in the build, probably because of moisture. This one turned out 50#@28" and 58" ntn with about 1/2" of set. It was fun to make a successful bow out of what I originally considered a failure. :) Not too often I see side nocks so I added a few extra pics of them.

Great time to work hickory up here right now doc, our place is under 20%. Slick stick.

Nice work on that stick.  I love all of it.  Tips, front profile, and bend
I just tried my hand at a side nock last night very similar to yours.  Funny to see one this morning on here.  Nice work again.

Cool. Gotta feel good to make something that nice out of something you thought was a failure.  This inspires me to consider going back to the discard pile and see what I can do.  Nice work.  Like those knocks and the bend too.
Talking trees. What do trees have to talk about, hmm... except the consistency of squirrel droppings?
