Hi fellas is it possible to make paper micarta with ordinary wood glue?
If so- what's the process?
Thanks in advance  :)

No.  Micarta is made with phenolic resin. You need to use epoxy in a diy scenario.

I have made "Micarta" with Denim and TBII. It does work depending on what you want it to do. I have also used resin to make it, and they seem to be about the same strength.

I was thinking of doing tip overlays with it?

When I have made it I just make it like normal. I assume it would work ok, if the paper were sealed enough to keep moisture out.

A clear resin will make whatever pattern you may want very apparent and add that  look of depth like wood grain. The harder resin also makes a more durable overlay.
Here's some cloth laid up with epoxy. Not overlays but a very similar scenario.
