Forming curves
« on: February 16, 2015, 03:20:51 pm »
I learned a new word to describe a method for forming curves. I sometimes wrap a string around a circular object of any size I choose and put a pencil on the free end to use as a compass. As I draw my circle the radius gets bigger as the string unwinds from the round object I have it wrapped around. Nice method for forming "involute" curves. Involute is the new word I just learned, I had been calling it a progressive bend.

Is it the same thing as a section of a spiral?
Nothing flying, Nothing dying

Not a regular spiral, I don't think.  It might follow a Fibanocci series spiral.

" Just" learned? I posted this about two years ago and you said you learned the word then too. ;)
I can even find the threads here and on the LW.
