Osage snaky 70# @ 27"
« on: February 16, 2015, 05:43:04 am »
This is an old bow of mine I reworked and heat treated and I have to say the work payed of,
the bow has a drawweight of 70 pounds, shoots very nice and very controllable. It has zero set and a lot of character with one bigger knot.
the handle is made out of hempcordage, the arrowrest and tips are made out of camelbone.
I'm happy that I've reworked it.

Specs are:
Osage orange
heat treated
65 inches long ( top limb 1.5 inches longer, makes the ow balance an inch under the arrowrest)
70 pounds at 27 inches.

thanks for looking hope you like it. ;)

Johannes

Very nice.
Straight wood may make a better bow, but crooked wood makes a better bowyer

Nice snakey osage! Well done. Why 70#? That's big weight.

Beautiful bow Johannes. Camel bone huh? Go figure. Never know what some of you guys will use for accutraments. All that snakey jake needs now is a set of skins.  Throw it down in the leaves and it will dissapear.   Danny

70 # is a regular weight for me.
I like it of course it gets a little heavy when on a tournament after 30 Targets, but I love the trajectory of a heavy bow and the feel of the '' I could hunt anything with this one'' ;D
maybe it's just my crazyness...

Even though Id never get full draw at that weight, I still dig it! Nice rebuild.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.
