What kind of wood is it? This is how I do white woods. I take a long look at this point and decide where the bow lies andf what the stave will give me. Then I basically rough out the bow to within 1/8"-1/4" of final shape in every direction; thickness, width, profile, etc. Leave yourself enough to play with, and then I seal the handle and tips, and maybe the back and belly if it is really hot or dry, and clamp it down straight to dry.
