Ambitious project advice?

Hey people. So I've got this nice oak board and I feel like doing something interesting with it. Here's my plan: Stiff-handled reflex with 4-inch siyahs spliced on the ends. The limbs would be 2 1/8" wide for the first 12", then tapering to 1" where the siyahs are spliced in. The splices are designed to be 5" V-splices. This is the layout:
Is this possible with oak if horn backing is not possible? Would a rawhide or sinew backing make this possible?
Any advice is welcome.

Horn is not used much for backing, it would be on the belly.
This design IS ambitious. Oak is NOT the best choice. If you were to pull it off, sinew backing would probably be the way to do it.
