That#s a cool thread and a great offer from Danny. Wish I could take part.
Can't wait to see what you all are doing with that sticks.

Got a ring chased last night waiting for some heat corrections to cool last night.  Took longer than I thought there was a spot that I had to get a small chisel out on.  The color is stunning that is Danny.  This stave should keep me busy.

Yes I used shellac.  To prevent checking in the off chance it might happen.

This is where I'm at now.  I'm chasing a ring for practice since I haven't done it before.  There is a thicker ring a couple down from this one that I will chase after I clean up the back.  The stave has some good reflex and a bunch of knots to work around.  Im pretty pumped about having an opportunity to work with this yellar wood.  I will get some better pictures when I get the back cleaned up.

Looking good, guys.  Chased a ring on mine and got it roughed out.  I still need to clean up around the knot and couple of pins.  Hope to get it floor tillered this week, then take the twist out and get the tips lined up.  It's going to be 62" long and has just under an inch of natural reflex.  It has been a joy to work on. :)

Looking good guys. Only problem I have is those staves all look better than I remember. I think I want you to send em back....NOT. Won't be long and one of you guys will have one shooting.
