As drawn the arrow shelf will work perfectly.  I have done it myself.  Just keep the handle deep right there. The knot isnt providing much strength anyways so you arent loosing much structure.  Go fo it. It will look good too.

Just a taste.60" ttt rawhide backed pullin 48#@27. Put over 50 arrows thru er. Still gotta seal and dress er up. Will post more when she's done.

Danny, really cant thank u enough. This bow has been not only a challenge but the most involved i've done. The top limb sitting above the bottom by about an inch thru the handle was like workin two bows at once. I had to flatten out the handle area and put in a lam to straighten it out. Used ipe for the handle lam and on the overlays. Did my first rawhide backing because of a couple suspicious knots and that turned out real cool lookin. Got a coat of shellac and a coat of tung oil on today. A couple more coats of oil and a handle wrap and will post more pics. Again thank you for an exciting ride😄
