Hickory board bow. need advice please.
« on: January 28, 2015, 11:13:11 am »
I was gluing up a riser to this hickory bow yesterday and had it in the clamp and my son released the clamp when I wasn't looking and it fell and nicked the back. Its not backed with anything.  Its  a small nick but in a bad spot I think. WhAt can I do? And if I need to tack better pics I can just let me know. Thanks

You need to round over those square edges. By doing so, you'll get rid of the small nick. Don't worry about it.

I'd try to steam the dent out. Then when it dries add super glue and when that dries, round the edged like DarkSoul suggested.

Most of the dent came out over night and I was able to sand it away with a couple of passes.   Its all good now. Thanks for the advice.

I can post pictures but I didn't build this bow I just finished it. I got it to shoot while I learn how to tiller.  I just dont want to post something I didnt build.  I usually taken too much off and come in under weight.

I purchased this bow online to use while I'm learning. I have made a few bows but all under weight so I couldn't hunt with them. I tend to tiller too much. This bow is hickory 67" t2t and 65" n2n. 57#@28".  It was a you finish bow. I put Indian Rosewood ans horn tip overlays.  The riser is figured walnut. With a cloth diamondback backing. The pics.aren't very good.
