Tim Baker.

I havnt heard anyone mention Mr Baker.I remember a few years ago he was having serious health problems then I had a bout of the same and was out of the click for some time.Do,s anyone have any word as to how he is doing? His bows and teaching have always inspired me.I pray he is doing ok.

  Tim is doing pretty well, lately he has been more involved in one of his other passions which is photography. Tim and I still discuss bows on a regular basis. In march we are making a trip up north to bring back some of his wood stash.

Yall swing by and get me! I aint as good as I once was but im good once as I ever was!! So I would be of some help. I could cook for us.Ill fry some chicken and make some mack and cheese, pinto beans and neck bones and corn bread.and make some sweet tea. do that sound good? ;)

  His basement was full of wood a couple of years ago. Not much left now. Beartail, are you in So cal?

Anything I know about Tim Baker is just from what is in TBB series.  The sheer number of bows he made and tested boggles my mind.  In the Bows From Boards chapter he mentions making over 350 bows from kiln dried boards and in TBB4, Jim Hamm uses the word "thousands" when talking about the number of bows Mr. Baker made and tested.  I made my first bow just over two years ago and recently finished my 16th :o  Wonder if any of his bows are still in that basement?

My favorite quote of his from the books is "It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly."  Love it  ;)
