Deal of the Century
« on: January 24, 2015, 10:08:24 pm »
I had Monday off and slept in . When I awoke I noticed a friend had tagged me on a FB post. I had given this fellow a nice Bear Grizzly a few months back seeing as how I had two , and he wanted to get back into trad. Well, getting to the story the post he tagged me in was one for old archery equipment. I about fell over when I saw the price and what it was. The old archery equipment was two Kodiaks 5 dozen wooden arrows 1 dozen Zwickeys, 1 dozen Bear razor heads, various judos, field points,JoJan 6 fletch, tapering tool, Selway quiver, Old bBear bow quiver, basket quiver, two gloves, two arm guards, stringer and various other odds and ends $150. I  knew the folks selling, and went over there asap I explained to the guy how it was worth WAY more, and he said there are probably 5 people in this county who would even be interested and I was one of them he knew. " He was happy with the price if I was" I felt a little guilty , but was honest with the worth.

Yep! Like I said, you did real good. I'd hang on to that one, for sure. That's not the one I said was a 73 is it? And, what's with the one on the floor next to the basket quiver? looks like I can see the floor where the grip should be.

Mullet, that's some sort of optical illusion, as it is the same bow in the close ups. The one you told me that is a 73" I'm keeping for sure, as Jennifer ( my wife) is a 73 also  both keepers  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Keith, your in-box is full, can't send PM's. But that handle looks like a Super Kodiak Magnum, 48". A Kodiak Magnum is 52"

If it's 48, it's a Super Mag. That is strange if it says it is a Magnum.

Yeah, you hit a King Tut's Tomb of traditional archery goodies.  And thank you for being honest and straightforward about the value of the items with the seller.  It's probably why you are hitting this jackpot, you are carrying good karma for your honesty (and for the way you treat your dogs).

You did real good. The Jo Jan alone is $120.00 new.  The bows look like late 60's models.  What is the first number or letter on the serial numbers?

Kind look like 68 or 69's from here!!!  Very good find.

Sometimes the paint on those older Bear wood shafts will split/crack and come off.  I have stripped several dozen, sanded and put clear coat on the arrows and then re-fletched them.  There is some really nice port orford cedar under all that paint.
