HHB sorta deflex/reflex bow
« on: January 23, 2015, 11:47:51 pm »
First hhb bow for me and it came from a stave Clint, Osage Outlaw gave me last spring at Marshal, MI.  It had some natural deflex in an area that ended up just out of the handle on the top limb. I tried to match that deflex in the bottom limb out of the handle area using some steam and later with dry heat but couldn't get it to budge and didn't want to force it. It looks a little heavy on the positive tiller at brace because of that and was a little difficult to tiller visually so once I had it drawing out to 23" I basically just tillered it by feel to get the last few inches of draw out of it. Ended up shooting pretty darn smooth and accurate for me.
Its Jon W.'s bow now and I don't remember the exact specs but its around 58"ntn and maybe 50# @ 26"
Thanks for looking . :)

Nice looking bow.  I see what you mean about the brace view but the full draw shows great tiller.  Nice work.

Thanks so much for the pic of the belly side handle area. It was just what I have been needing. I am learning so much.

Sweet looking little bow Greg. Did I see that one at Pauls? Looks like you nailed the tiller.

Nice work!  Nice bow!  Yeah the tiller is spot on.  It takes some skill to do that.

Damn Greg, Between the very nice bend, and the turned back ears, and tillerin her out by hand feel....looks like you are firmly entrenched in the short, bendy bow buildin club for sure.

Thanks for the comments guys, that wonky braced profile threw me a little so I was curious to find out what you all thought of the tiller. You can learn a lot here and I learn from listening to others on this site. Paying attention to how a bow feels when drawing back and how it feels at arrow send off being more important sometimes than measurements at brace. This one probably has a full 1/2" pos. tiller at the kink above the handle and normally that would have concerned me but when done it felt smooth as silk shooting for me.

Cody I didn't have this one at Paul's house last week, it was crazy how many bows the six of us were passing around there though wasn't it? Enough bows it's hard to remember them all. :)
