Done siomething similar, JoJO, but not to build up a handle. Used it to make reinforced string bridges and tips for a weird recurve I made,
Another thing I did once was placing a glue-soaked strip of linen between laminates, because I was still getting uswd to TB III not filling gaps. My surfaces were always good, but things liked to cup and gap when wet, or I had a hard time getting pressure in the right areas when clamping into a form, WITHOUT starving the glue joint an incha away or whatever.
It worked wonderfully, actually, but the mess wasn't worth it, really. The dipping and soaking and stuff trying to dry on ya.
