"High Eagle" used to post several a few years ago. I love the color of the heart wood and it appeared to make a bow.

There is tons of it in some places in Wyoming.  It was planted to prevent erosion along streams and rivers and is now a real problem as it takes over and is very hard to kill the root systems.  I have helped cut some down to help clear some bottom lands and it is very hard on chain saws.  Am planning to try some on short bows so will see how it works!  I don't know it you can split it like other bow woods of if you just have to saw it.  Thanks for any information!  Joe

I split some last year and it split pretty good. It is beautiful wood. It is all over Utah as well.

Seen one on here before it was a beautiful bow. The wood grain is exceptionally stunning looking. Imo

Finding it straight enough is the issue I find.
