Collabo Christmas bows

Sorry for no unbraced photos. These three were made for a friend to give to his sons for Christmas. They have never shot bows, and their dad wanted to get them into something that they can all do together. The weight of the three is 30# at 30 inches (Monster children). Mollegabet, 72 inches tip to tip, 71 inches knock to knock. 12 inch levers, 12 inch handle, 18 inch working limbs. The bows are made from red oak, handles are purple heart and ebony. Levers are purple heart and ebony as well. A whole new challenge for both myself and Tyke. Tyke tillered these three out in about 6 hours. Strings are 12 strand B-50. For how light they are they send an arrow down range at quite a clip. I hope the boys enjoy them. The bows are named after Vikings, Ragnar, Floki and Rollo.

They also are getting some arrows and finger tabs.

That is a really interesting design.  Oh, and did you know that purple heart is really, really hard?  Is this what is left of the PH bows you were trying to make  earlier?

It is some of the purple heart. I have 3 whole bows worth left. We ran into some issues that we didn't have the time for. My friend was dead set on Mollies from the onset, so it worked out for all of us.

Awesome bows. They are really lucky kids and I hope archery brings em together as a family!  :D
Great names also- Vikings is my favourite show!   :D

Nice looking bow Jojo. I'm sure they'll love it.  On the next one, I would recommend being very careful about the handlefade from handle to limb. The fade on the top limb looks very abrupt  and could pose a problem like chrysals or glued on handles popping off. Its happened to me a few times. Also, those levers look like they could have been reduced quite a bit.  Probably would have been fine without the full length overlay, but they do look nice. Goodnjob on getting a shooter with such a long draw. Tiller looks great.

The photos are of 3 different bows.  ;D They are tillered out to 32 inches. Tyke did a great job with it. The fades are more gradual than they appear. We did have a problem with the levers lifting on the first two, that is why the bottoms of the levers are wrapped with hemp cord. Thanks for the compliment on the tiller. Tyke knocked them out really fast. We only had 2 weeks to build these. The guy who wanted them works out of town most days, and is hard to get in touch with. Lots of waiting.

Yes, a comment from the Mollie master! huisme, they shoot smooth, and faster than I would have expected from such low weight bows. Another case of not wanting to give them to the new owners. The boys should be happy. I'll have photos of them with FD with the "Kids"

I happen to be over at our friends house when he gave his oldest his bow pretty epic watching a 25 yr old act like ralphie getting his red rider.he went from hipster to viking at the blink of an eye  :laugh:
