I've always heard you want to wind your serving in a certain direction so that if you have to twist the string to shorten it to the proper length, it will cause the serving to tighten and not loosen. My question is, which way is this? Do you wind the serving in the same direction as the string bundles are wound around each other? Or in the opposite direction?
I think I know the answer, just double checking. I've not paid attention to this in recent years because I'm using a timber hitch which lets you adjust length easily. But I may make some double loop strings and want to be sure I'm doing it right.
