After rereading Jim Hamm on building a sinew-backed bow, I notice he prefers bison sinew for its length and softness. Looking for it online, it's spendy stuff except when sold as dog chews. Unfortunately, the chews I am finding that appear to be real North American bison tend to be baked. I am guessing this destroys the material for use as bow backing.
Anyone have a good source for this material that won't break the bank? If it can be baked, packaged and sold for $1.89 per tendon on Amazon, it ought to be available raw somewhere for less, one would think.
