Palm facing out - Where does this come from?

Were does this idea come from?  I got the image below from a gamer or comic site  (role playing type?).  Supposedly, this is a technique for speed shooting.  ---http://elf-comic.thecomicseries.com/comics/102

I also noticed this technique in the trailer for the newest Lord Of the Rings Movie.

I had a neighbor kid stop by to shoot over the summer and that was how he shot. He said no one had taught him that method it just felt natural to him. I can say he was less than accurate, I convinced him to try a more conventional release and his shooting improved greatly.

With the fingers releasing to the right it seems the arrow should be n the right side like with a thumb ring.

OK, now I see it.  It seems to be fad in Russia.  Looks to me like an upside down tertiary grip.  I stopped a couple of those videos to see the grip and it's definitely a pinch grip.

And I think you're right, Pat.  The arrow should be on the other side of the bow.  But that would spoil the speed.  It's not an accurate shooting technique anyway.  And it only seems to work with a back quiver.

So you can draw an arrow, nock, and draw all with the same motion? Seems really smooth from the video but looks crazy to get use to it. If I try it (very well might just for a good laugh at myself) I will warn the neighbors to stay indoors. The video is impressive though. Do these folks go for blind speed or are they trying to put arrows on target at the same time?

I am thinking party trick, 6 empty "soda" cans from 10 yards in under 10 seconds? Gotta empty them yourself first

  The picture shows the arrow on the wrong side of the bow for the peopole I have seen shooting this way.  Videos I see people doing it on seem to be speed shooters, and it is used because it takes less time to get an arrow out and on the string.   Also saw a girl shooting with an inverted pinch+two fingers grip, similarly.

     I just tried simulating shooting like that, turning my hand out, and it just ain't gonna happen for me.  I can knock, and draw an arrow, in one move, without looking at it.  I cringe every time I see a compound, or recurve shooter, hold the arrow, just below the fletch, and bring the arrow to the string.  When I was a small boy, I used to be able to grab an arrow by the knock, and knock it in one smooth move.  I think the whole compound thing has infected the recurve, and primitive set.  I don't see how turning out your hand in an unnatural manner, could enable you to shoot faster, let alone pull a heavy bow back.   But if people are doing it, I guess it works for them.  buuuuuut not for me.
