Tlingit styled Osage Takedown 48 # 27''
« on: December 07, 2014, 04:04:13 pm »

I got two staves of osage as a birthday present from my dad, along with some takedown sleves,so I tried to make a good takedown bow and I must say I like takedowns a lot.
The paintings are not too precise but that is because I made them with my 4 year old daughter. I tried to make this bow to fit to my arrows I made earlier, and on the inside of the fades is a "Tlingit" wolf and eagle, I think it fits the design, the tips are made of white cowhorn.
The bow has a good twang to it.
I hope you guys like it.

Specs are

64,9 inches
48 pounds
27 inch draw

Greetings

Nice!
Did the Native Americans think about all this that much or just do it?

Johannes,

I love the bow.  May I ask what type of paint you used and at what stage was it applied.  Also, did you apply finish over it?

Best regards,

Russ

Real nice bow, really like the artwork and the handle wrap. Also like the back profile, braced profile and bend.
Oh and the tips are sweet too,..... guess I like everything about this one. :)
