Has anyone ever knapped this material? How does it work? Can it be knapped raw?

I just saw a post from someone on my Facebook that had made a couple points from pigeon blood agate and the points looked pretty awesome. I know since I don't know the name of the person it doesn't help much other than to say it can be knapped. I also know that agate is way beyond my skill level.

I have knapped only 3-4 pieces of agate of unknown varieties, and they were difficult raw. The flake scars were dull. It takes more heat than my turkey roaster will produce to get it treated.

most agates require heat in the 4-600 range, I would search for answers before heating known types of agate from other knappers and sources. otherwise it is an experiment  doing successive heats and raising temps until it is found to be done. There are some lists on line here and there of rock heating recipes.

I contacted Dave on FB and he said it was definitely heat treated. Got any pics of what you have?

Dave posted that he uses a roaster. 225 for 5 hrs to dry out then 485 for 8 hrs. Let us see what you end up with.
