while you guys are talking about sinew witch do you like better back or leg sinew? i had thought that back sinew was better because of its length, but the 3 rivers store said to use leg sinew for backing a bow.

If you cut the leg sinew out correctly you can get long lengths.  Over 18" easily.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

Of regular leg sinew and back sinew I prefer back sinew. I think I get a neater backing with the longer stuff. Both work fine for backings though. My favorite so far has been cow sinew. It is medium length but softer so I get better ribbons to lay down with cow sinew.
