I think I may be able to get usable wood out of these. They are both 47" long and I dont know their age. Guy who gave them to me at work 3 years ago reckoned they have been on the ground for 20+ years. Hope I can do them right. Question is, staves or billets?

I say go for it and use them as staves, if it wasn't challenging it wouldn't be so much fun.

I'll have to show you a pic of a tiny toothpick of a bow I'm almost finished with 50#@22"
I'll pm you soon (next week?) about saplings, I not sure what all I have seasoned.

Clean both up and see what you actually have before deciding how to use them.

All cleaned up. Lost allota thickness. But I think I still have enough meat. Thinking a set of twin bendy handles. Maybe 40#@25/26"?

Thanks, but that was the easy part. We will see if it makes a bow or not then decide if it was a save or a waste of knife hanlde material or a walking stick.
