So I decided a few months ago to take the backpack challenge to see if I could do it, and to push the limits of some osage. I started with a sweet piece of osage with a red streak in it, then I overlayed some paduak to the tips to accent the red streak. It started out with one limb looking like half of a 5 curve bow (as Gun Doc calls it), so I steamed the other limb to match. But since I was really stressing those limbs out, it has taken about 1 1/2" set. It is finished with 4 coats of Tru-oil, and wrapped with brown buckskin leather for the handle.
