simple noob question. how do you haft a point with no notch (a basic triangle) I made a decent glass head, have gut thread, a good shaft and some turkey. but how the heck do I attach a head with no notches?

I notch the shaft to fit the point, add pitch glue to the notch, add the point into the notch and make sure it spins true and wrap with sinew.

Depends on the point. On a triangular point, yes. On appoint with side notches I crisscross the sinew around the point through the notches and back down the shaft. On points with a tang I 'll just wrap around the shaft with the tang in it.

You could add notches about 1/4 way up from the base and do a crisscross with the sinew wrap to hold the point to the shaft.

The easiest thing to do is attach the un-notched point with epoxy that is made for glass.  You can use pitch glue also but it will not be as strong and will melt in a hot car.  Pitch glue works, don't get me wrong, but it requires some finesse.

After notching the arrow , gluing the point on, wrap on the point like it had notches just dull it where the wrap will contact the side of the point. Good luck Ed
