Havent shared anything in a while.
« on: November 13, 2014, 11:26:58 pm »
Figured I'd share some stuff since I've been so quiet lately.

And the latest one, had this synthetic opal for months, couldn't even drive flakes on it till I got in some indirect percussion tools a-la our very own JackCrafty!

Very much enjoying the new style of knapping, now to wait for the weekend so I can tear into the pedernales chert I got in earlier this week  >:D

I really haven't noticed too much of a difference, though I do feel that I need to abrade more with it, so maybe it is softer  :P

I use direct pressure. Most rock if its the same is more or less consistant when flaking. With Mahogany I am about as inconsistant as ever, One side is totally different than the other. The rock itself is consistant for hardness. Yours looks good. Are you using a variety (direct, indirect, percussion) of techniques.

Aside from the opal they were made with percussion and pressure flaking.
