Arrow to shoot a bear
« on: October 21, 2014, 03:44:16 pm »
Considering a Zwicky 125 grain two sided arrowhead, 11/32 shaft, and a 28 inch arrow what arrow wood would I use to shoot a bear?
Choices are cedar, doug fir, spruce?

Pick the arrows that shoot the best for you and your bow and spend the rest of the time practicing and getting your arrow heads SHARP!

Never shot a bear but feel sure any of the above will work, I would probably go with the one that weighted the most if I was picking.  :)

All are good.. Pat B's advice is sound.. I used a 28'' cedar arrow with a zwickey 125gr went clean through at 17 yards... Bear squared 7'.. 20'' skull.. weighed just bout 500lbs... Having a gun for backup ain't a bad idea depending where you hunt... Bit of grog back at camp... It'll come handy >:D Be safe and have a good hunt.. It's something you'll never forget
