Tri-lam Longbow
« on: November 09, 2014, 02:55:01 pm »
Here is my first attempt at a tri-lam.  It is hickory backed ipe with a walnut core. Handle lams are purple heart, wenge, and bacote. I used smooth on for glue and I really like it since  there is no joint creep. 50 # @ 27" 64"ntn. Dead quiet with no discernible handshock. I started with about an inch of reflex and finished about flat. Finish is spar urithane satin spray with johnsons paste wax. I really like the spar spray, it gives a very durable slightly textured finish. Thanks for looking.

Wow Cody, this is one of the most beautifully crafted bows I've seen. Awsom craftsmanship. A bow like this makes me want to build one like it for my self. Can you give the dimensions please?

forgot to give the dimensions. 1" wide at the fades with a straight taper to 7/16" tips.

Does that mean all three lams are tapered? So that would be an overall taper of .006" per inch? (or am I being thick? ::))

That is a beauty!  Looks like some super straight grain on your hickory backing as well.  Very nice work.
