I'll shoot with you Joe any time. We'll make sure Pappy goes too.  He thinks the shoot won't go if he isn't there at the cabin.  It won't hurt for him to be gone for a little while. If something comes up they can text him. He's a high-tech redneck. :)  He's getting pretty good with that phone he's got. ;D ;D ;D

both times I have been there I was treated like I was some one special.

I can echo that sentiment.

Same here.  I hadn't met but one person there before going and before I could even walk down the hill I had made new friends.  Once down the hill someone called me over to say hi, then introduced me to someone else.  Before I knew it I was trading with people and cracking jokes.  It was mind blowing putting screen names to faces and personalities.  It's a crazy cool place but it's mostly the atmosphere that I enjoyed.
Florida to Kwajalein to Turkey and back in Florida again.  Good to be home but man was that an adventure!

When I first met you there, Tim, you had a rather glazed look on your face.  I think it was the initial overdose shock that I recognized from the year before when I had it!

I hope to be there, this will be my first time.

Will there be trade items?

Sourwood shoots, Hill Cane, maybe Hazel Shaft material.

Flint Knapping material.

And so on.

I'll probably have hill cane and maybe sourwood shoots also.
There will be more trade items and outright gifts than you can imagine, neuse

David:  You are right about Pappy being a High Tech Redneck!  Overalls and a cell phone/Camera! :o  Getting to know him a little bit makes a fellow have faith in mankind!  He has gathered a great bunch of people to help make the farm a one of a kind place for all of us primitive minded folks!  One other thing about the Classic is the amount of Very skilled people willing to help teach us how to be successful, not only with making things, but also in how to treat strangers.  You won't go home a stranger!  Joe

You are so right Joe.  I met Pappy at Cloverdale years ago.  The whole bunch treated me like family from the start. I finally got shamed into going to the Classic and from there it's been like a home away from home to me.  I dear friends from this chance encounter.  I'm not as talented making things like a lot you on this forum are. I know this. So, I have to feed them when we get together.  :)  Looking forward to seeing you in the spring. It will be a grand time, rain or shine.

The Classic seems a long way away, but I am thinking about it every day.  So far I have two gun slings, a canteen and a couple more planned, some necklaces, a big set of elk horns and some cut up horns for projects, moose and elk hides with frozen brains for tanning, moose and elk meat, a quiver, for donations and trades!  Its not always easy to get away from the chores on this place (horses and a mule) and the trip means 4 days on the road round trip, but I can tell you that the experience of the Classic is worth the effort. Never met a better bunch of talented people in all my years!  Joe

PS:  I forgot to mention I hope to have my Solberger Jig, his notes and a tape on how to use it!  Also will bring some knapping materials.
