I have some elk sinew that I have to process. How fine do you shred it for the back of a bow? About the same size as artificial sinew, a little finer, or a little coarser?

About like 70# artificial sinew, the heavy stuff. The finer it is the smoother the finished backing will be.

Finer, for real sinew. Not hair fine, but like individual strands of B-50 fine. I don't sinew many bows, but that is what I have seen when guys comb it for smoothness.
