Tyke and I went out for a little rock hunting adventure today. On the way was a small town, with a small cafe. We stopped in for breakfast. Our server was a 9 year old little girl, helping her mom run the place (gas station, grocery store, cafe). The food was great, and super cheap. We left her a hefty tip for the awesome service. About 15 miles out of town we came to the pit.
From a distance it doesn't look to promising. But once you get up close you realize that there is more stone here than you could use in quite some time. We took a few hours and chipped each promising looking rock. We ended up with a pretty good haul. We only brought back stone that spalled well, and looked waxy and not too coarse. Here is the results.
