Hello everyone. As I gather my resources while working out of time. I figured I can start working on the wood core for a magyar. Can you give me the ruff dimensions and a pic of what I might be shooting for?
Thanks joe

limb thickness: 1 cm

But you should really get Karpowicz's book somehow (resource nu.1) to avoid traps.....good luck!

And another question. Is maple the preferred core wood then? Or basically and quality white wood?

Hard maple with the straightest grain you've ever seen and it's best flat sawn.

Where I'm working at right now, their is tons of sugar maples. So I can get a few this weekend and get them roughed out, drying.I Wanted to last weekend but the black flies were out with a vengeance. Do you like tight grained wood for a core.
