Thought I would share my most recent bow. It is a 30lbs@24", 63" t2t Hickory bow with purple heart and Leopard wood overlays. The back is lightly trapped and belly heat treated. At the middle of the handle it is 1 1/4" wide, 1 1/2" at the fades, and tapers to just under 3/8"s at the tips. The tips are slightly reflexed and stiff. The board started with around 3/4" inch of reflex and ended almost dead straight. This bow was a sort of salvage job, in that it came from a board which had some sort of fungus or decay in it. I had intended it to be a heavier bow for a friend a while ago, until I had gotten to the decay in the limb. I had to remove a significant amount of wood to get past the damage. So the bow ended up getting chucked in the corner and forgotten. My girlfriend asked me to make her a bow so I brought this out as I figured I could squeak a light one out of it. Due to the damage that had to be removed the tiller wasn't as great as I would have liked, but I was limited due to trying to keep the weight up... Thankfully she has a really short draw haha. Of course she wanted it to be "pretty", so I made it specifically how she wanted it. She picked the overlays and color for the bow. We used equal parts red and chocolate leather dye as stain, and she tooled and stitched the grip and made her string under my tutelage. I think she did a fine job. The bow actually shoots damn nicely, fast and hard (especially for how light it is), and accurate. She is, of course, absolutely in love with it. So I guess I did my job. Hope you like it.
